Hello and welcome to the personal website of

 Dr. Fadi Mohammad Baakdah

My work mainly focuses on identifying the network of proteins involved in malaria drug resistance which involves understanding protein-protein interactions in the parasite and the infected red blood cells and the possible relationship between them using some techniques such as cloning, protein expression, western blotting, protein purification, site-directed mutagenesis, using kinases and phosphatases for phosphorylation and dephosphorylation, peptide synthesis, antibody production, CRISPR-Cas9, heterologous expression in foreign systems like bacteria, malaria parasites, mammalian cells, and plants, to understand the specific roles of biochemical events further. For imaging and detecting possible interactions and localization of proteins, we may need to use a confocal microscope to do live-cell imaging with or without drugs and study kinetics. I’m also interested in developing tools that could be used for screening and distinguishing mutants using 3D printing and microfluidics and using bioinformatics to screen for potential novel drug targets and test novel drugs.
